This course provides an overview of athlete agency law (federal, state, NCAA and University) requirements. Its main focus is providing lawyers with basic knowledge of statutes and regulations that apply to NCAA athlete eligibility; agency requirements; and best practices in navigating the complex world of sports law for athletes, agents.

This course also informs lawyers what is and what is not allowed when providing legal services to student-athletes and agents. Attendees will learn about best practices in counseling athletes on retaining amateur-athlete status, how to vet and select agents, and how agents stay out of civil and criminal trouble in operating an agency business.

Brian Brunkow, Esq., is a northwest native and graduated cum laude with a business law focus from Seattle University School of Law. After passing the WA Bar in ’01 (during the 6.8 Nisqually earthquake) Brian has worked extensively in housing and mortgage compliance during both real estate bubbles and meltdowns.

Outside of work, Brian is a youth football coach, sports parenting author, and speaks at west coast coaching clinics on student athlete development and NCAA athletic recruiting practices.
